Artur Lescher’s oeuvre activates the tangible qualities of objects and stages their interaction with their surroundings, thereby revealing invisible spatial structures which ultimately reflect and point to larger underlying systems. Ann Nine, a solid single volume sculpture, denotes a metaphor of human existence, as beingness suspended between earth and sky, while Hikoboshi, a small scale representation of a public art installation conceived for Miami, is designed to root the floating city in a stellar constellation, akin to acupuncture of the earth, a theme also present in Dardos. The elliptical contours of Sem Titulo mimic orbits in space while Nexus, on the other hand, operates as a pathfinder in earthly realms. Lescher has participated in the Sao Paolo Biennial in 1987 and 2002. He has had solo exhibitions in Latin America, Europe and the United States, including two exhibitions at the Tomie Ohtake Institute in Sao Paulo as well as an acclaimed presentation at the Palais d’léna in Paris in 2017.
